You’ll want to stay in the Town of Banff for the wedding weekend—preferably downtown so that you can easily and safely walk home after the reception. Various hotels and BnBs exist but know that there are few Airbnbs in the actual town.

 travel FAQs

  • Yes. Note that if you’ve been convicted of any crime, there’s an extra step in the immigration and customs process. Visit this website ASAP to learn more.

  • Unless you’re in the wedding party, you should plan to be in Banff from at least Saturday afternoon through Monday morning for our wedding. You’re encouraged to stay longer so that you have more time to explore but that’s completely up to you.

We’ll be sharing some of our favorite places and local highlights soon so you can make the most of your time in the mountains.

  • Canmore is a lovely town 20 minutes from Banff with other hotel and Airbnb options. If you choose to stay in Canmore (not recommended), know that you won’t have access to the free shuttle service to/from the wedding ceremony unless you drive to one of the designated stops in Banff. It also requires you to manage your own transportation back after the reception.

  • Booking a rental car is your best option to give you the most flexibility. However, there are shuttle options from Calgary to the Town of Banff: Banff Airporter, Brewster Express.

Aside from getting from Calgary to Banff, the Town of Banff is very walkable and bikeable. You can easily walk to almost all areas of town in less than 10-15 minutes.

The Town of Banff also offers a public bus system—Roam Public Transit.

  • No. Currently, Uber and Lyft are not supported in Banff. There is a locally owned cab service that requires call ahead notice and is very limited in bandwidth. Therefore, there may be delays.
