General

  • Why not Canada? Banff was our first big trip together in 2018, and we fell in love with the beauty, the people, and the small mountain town feel. Over the years, it’s become our happy place. Plus, it’s an epic meeting spot in between our friends and family from California and Tennessee. We can’t wait for you to experience it all for yourself.

  • Yes! We can’t wait to celebrate with everyone, including the little ones. Feel free to bring them to the ceremony and reception.

For those who are looking for a helping hand at some point, or just want to let loose on the dancefloor, there are recommended nanny services within Banff. They will even come to your hotel room, making everything as smooth as possible. Links to come.

  • Semi formal attire please! But note that the ceremony will be outdoors (looking at you, high heels!).

For the welcome event, attire is dressy casual (think, fancy date night).

  • Great question! Honestly we could experience any type of weather, ranging from beautiful spring sunshine to cold rain to maybe even a snow shower. Regardless, consider packing layers and keep an eye on the weather up until take off—and send out all the positive vibes for a gorgeous, sun-filled weekend!

  • The Town of Banff sits within Banff National Park. Fun fact: Banff National Park is Canada’s first national park! So, if you choose to rent a car and drive into town, you will need to stop at the national park kiosk and pay for a park pass for the duration of your stay. The kiosk is located on the highway as you approach town. For more info, click here.

If you plan to visit some of the iconic spots within Banff National Park (e.g., Lake Louise, Moraine Lake) you will need to plan ahead and reserve a shuttle ticket. This is important as it will be your only sure way to access those spots, and shuttle tickets do sell out on the day of service. For more info on visiting Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, click here.

Travel

  • Yes. Note that if you’ve been convicted of any crime, there’s an extra step in the immigration and customs process. Visit this website ASAP to learn more.

  • Calgary (YYC)

  • You should plan to be in Banff from at least Saturday afternoon through Monday morning for our wedding. You’re encouraged to stay longer so that you have more time to explore but that’s completely up to you.

We’ll be sharing some of our favorite places and local highlights soon so you can make the most of your time in the mountains.

  • You’ll want to stay in the Town of Banff for the wedding weekend. Various hotels and BnBs exist but know that there are few Airbnbs in the actual town. Below are different links and codes to use when you book your stay:

Banff Lodging Co. | Code: “Wedding24” and reference the James-Santillan Wedding

Fairmount Banff Springs | Code: “PWED”

Canmore is a lovely town just outside of Banff with other hotel and Airbnb options. However, know that staying in Canmore won’t allow you to access the shuttle service we have planned to/from the wedding ceremony, unless you drive to one of the designated stops in Banff. It also requires you to manage your own transportation back after the reception.

  • Booking a rental car is your best option to give you the most flexibility. However, there are shuttle options from Calgary to the Town of Banff: Banff Airporter, Brewster Express

Aside from getting from Calgary to Banff, the Town of Banff is very walkable and bikeable. You can easily walk to almost all areas of town in less than 10-15 minutes.

The Town of Banff also offers a public bus system—Roam Public Transit.

  • Currently, Uber and Lyft are not supported in Banff. There is a locally owned cab service that requires call ahead notice and is very limited in bandwidth. Therefore, there may be delays.
